Celebrate Banned Books Week
Banned Books Week is observed every year during the last week of September to highlight the many well-known and well-loved literary works that are frequently challenged or banned in communities nationwide. The American Library Association maintains a list of the most frequently challenged books, from classics like I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings to contemporary works like Harry Potter, Twilight, and Heather Has Two Mommies. For Banned Books Week this year, read a banned book and join the ACLU for an event celebrating the freedom to read.
